My Story
Born and raised in Jamaica, Cornelia grew up in a stable home, so stability and consistency are traits and conditions she gravitates to and sought out in her relationships and environment. At the age of twenty, she started her first job, worked her way up, and in two short years found herself seated at the table with some of the leaders of one of the Caribbean’s largest billion-dollar conglomerates with subsidiaries in North and Central America, the UK and Africa. Poised for success, she had a plan to continue her education, start a family and chart her path in the world of business, but somewhere within her, ministry for God was tugging at her. Unsure and somewhat uninterested on how to navigate the pathway of ministry, she thought it better to continue with her secular endeavors, remain in the church and this should be enough. However, God had another plan.
As life would have it, Cornelia relocated to the United States, and with this move came quick, drastic, and devastating changes. The stability and harmony in which she thrived was pulled like a carpet from beneath her. Exposed to different homes and living situations for several years made life cold, uncertain, and unbearable, but at the same time – edifying. It was during these seemingly dark years of her life that Cornelia began to respond to the timely directives of God. She accepted her call to ministry, which caused her to walk in her prophetic calling, and missionary work in Jamaica and the UK. She is also part-owner of a skin care company called Yahdasa Strength.
Because of her lived experiences, Cornelia can empathize with and recognize an individual’s deep desire for a place and space to call home, where love, stability and harmony can be rebuilt after years of lack and defeat. This is why working for Beautiful Vessels Housing & Family Development has been such an inspiration, and the work it has set out to accomplish is a true standard bearer. Being a small piece of the puzzle in bringing joy and contentment to hearts wherever they may be found is rewarding and will remind people everywhere that the love of Jesus is tangible - though the night season might have been long, morning is coming “…though it tarry[s], wait for it; because it will surely come…” (Hab 2:3) because “…the promises of the Lord are sure…” (Psalm 19:7)
