My Story

From a young age, Amanda knew the answer to the age-old question all children are asked: “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Her answer was simple: she wanted to be a mother. As she grew to a teen, she began to babysit for several families and teach Sunday school at her local church. She was always told how well she was with children and how great of a mother she would make one day. She enjoyed children and the joy they brought into the world.

Fast forward to Amanda being married to her husband, Jacob, and together they decided it was time to fulfill this dream. They would start their family. However, this did not happen for them. After struggling with infertility and praying fervently day after day, they felt a different call instead—a call to foster. Hand in hand, they walked this journey together in faith. Over a span of five years, they fostered multiple children, offering a safe and loving home to each one that came through their doors. Today they have three beautiful children: two adopted and one biological. God never failed them; instead, He gave their pain a purpose.

It was through this journey of fostering and hearing the stories of children and families that ignited a passion in Amanda to become a support to those struggling. She knows just how much power there is in kindness and grace. She strives to show the love of God with the world, one smile and helping hand at a time. When she heard of Beautiful Vessels Housing & Family Development, Amanda felt a true connection with the mission of the organization. She wanted to be able to serve in any way she could and finds fulfillment in her time spent working with Beautiful Vessels.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (New Living Translation)

“Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go before you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
